A man in South Portland is taking a creative approach to raising money for a local non-profit.
Kevin Fitzpatrick is camping on the roof of Jimmy The Greek's at the Maine Mall to raise money for Strive. He went up to the roof Friday night and plans to stay up there until he raises ten thousand dollars or gets five hundred people to sign up for Strive's 5K Saturday September 14th.
"When people are willing to donate I send down the bucket, they give what they can, I bring it back up, give them some recognition, and it breeds more excitement about helping strive and getting me off the roof" Fitzpatrick told NEWS CENTER from the roof Saturday morning.
Fitzpatrick raised more than a thousand dollars in just his first few hours Friday night. He says he will likely be there through the weekend and possibly into next week.
