Just over a week after Lynn Arsenault was gun downed and killed at a home in Belfast, her closest friends and family gathered to show support for one another during a candlelight vigil in her memory.
The vigil was held at the Belfast City Park Friday night, just after sun down. Those who knew Arsenault shared their fondest memories of the woman they say was taken too soon.
"She was a true friend and one of the most beautiful people I've ever known," said former co-worker Travis Smith.
According to police, Arsenault was shot and killed two days after celebrating her 55th birthday. The man police believe is responsible, 44-year-old Todd Gilday, has been arrested and charged for her murder.
Over 100 friends and family members attended the candlelight vigil, including Heather Treneer who will remember Arsenault as a woman who always put other's needs ahead of her own.
"Somebody that always took the time to connect with anybody she came in contact with and I think that will be motivation for all of us to be more like that," said Treneer.
Arsenault's son, 22-year-old Mathew Day, was also shot the night his mother died, but survived. Eastern Maine Medical Center is not releasing his information or current medical condition.
